January’s theme was all about beginnings, how you start things.
Mission 1: Make 3 Changes to the way you start your day
Mission 2: Make 3 Changes to the way you start your week
Mission 3: Make 3 Changes to the way you start your work day
Mission 4: Make 3 Changes to the way you start your time off or away
This is a little bonus, since February has 5 Mondays – I thought I’d encourage you to think about beginnings one more time – How you start your month.
Make 3 Changes™ Monday Mission #5 – Start Your Month
How do you approach the start of a new month?
a) It’s just another day – I don’t do anything in particular.
b) I take time to look back, look ahead and make a plan based on that info.
c) Who’s got time for that? I just keep moving!
Part of the beauty of the coaching program I’m engaged in is a practice she calls Monthly Momentum. It’s an invitation to take a look at the previous month and identify the successes, the challenges and the results we achieved in our lives and in our businesses. It creates a great record of the progress we’re making, even when it might seem like things aren’t moving that much. It also teaches us to reflect and learn from the experiences we’ve had and gives us the time and permission to adjust for the coming month. When I take the time to honor this practice, it always bears fruit.
How could creating a monthly practice that incorporates looking back and looking forward benefit you?
Do you feel anxiety about financial commitments or other regular monthly obligations?
Do birthdays and other special occasions sneak up on you?
Do you tend to put things off that don’t get completed and say, I’ll try again next month?
Mindset: Explore the thoughts & feelings you have about the beginning of a new month.
What are the thoughts, beliefs and attitudes you have about the start of a new month? Are they serving you? Are they holding you back? Are they impacting those around you? Are they impacting your results?
Take 5: Take 5 minutes right now and jot down some of the first words and phrases that come up for you when you think about the start of a new month. What do you notice? If your mindset could use a change, how could you reframe your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes to better serve you?
Mantras: Review the list and highlight any of the ones that resonate with you.
Read them aloud and feel the difference in your body, your heart, your spirit.
- Whole New Month! (Patti Digh’s routine monthly post)
- I am grateful for the gifts of this past month.
- I am grateful for the variety of activities on my calendar for the month ahead.
- I am curious about how creating a monthly practice of reviewing and planning could benefit me and those around me.
- I am grateful for the new cycle of income and expenses this month.
- This month is an opportunity to connect with new people and have new adventures.
Take 5 minutes and jot down some mantras that would help you to stay focused on showing up how you WANT to show up.
Make 3 Changes to the way you Start Your Month
Take 5 minutes right now and think about what changes you could make to the way you start your month that would have the greatest impact on your life and the lives of those around you.
Ask yourself…“What would it look like if it worked?” and let the answers flow. You know what you need. Give yourself permission to imagine the possibilities. Give yourself permission to create new habits and routines that serve and support you instead of drain and deplete you.
Declare & Share!
Let me know what you came up with and how you did! Check the facebook page this week for additional resources and inspiration to help you create a monthly practice that makes a difference in your life, the lives of those you love and the lives of those you lead!
