Make 3 Changes™ Monday Mission #1 – Starting your Day
The way you start your day has a tremendous impact on your life and the lives of others. It’s valuable real estate that is yours to claim, if you choose to.
Which of the following best describes your morning routine:
a) Snooze alarm x 10 followed by the “oh crap” dash from the bed and through the house to get ready and dash out the door, with 2 trips back into the house for stuff you or the kids forgot.
b) Alarm set for the very last minute, get up, turn on tv or news, check email, rally others in the house, head to the car, turn on the news there checking email along the way to the office.
c) Get up, get ready, get the kids ready, go to work without thinking much about it.
d) Wake up without an alarm, take time to set intention for the day and ensure some “you” time before inviting other input or agendas.
e) some version of one or more of these.
The Power of Morning Routines
Perhaps you think you don’t have time for a morning routine. Perhaps you think that you’ll have to wait for (insert excuse/reason here) before you can claim the start of your day in a deliberate way. Perhaps you already have a morning routine that’s working for you, great! Could you enhance or improve it in some way? I am inviting you to think differently about the way you start your day.
Magic Question: What would it look like if it worked? If you could design a morning routine that gave you the best start to being your best each day, what would that look like? Do you dare to create a new possibility for yourself, your family?
Mindset: Instead of following along with the “Monday’s suck” mindset, why not create a new one? See if you can catch yourself in a Monday’s suck mindset and flip it around. Hey Monday, great to see ya! It might feel strange at first, but it’s better than feeling dread and resentment.

Take 5 minutes right now and think about what changes you could make to the way you start your day that would have the greatest impact on your peace of mind, others’ experience of you and how you impact the world.
Ask yourself the magic question, “What would it look like if it worked?” and let the answers flow. You know what you need. Give yourself permission to imagine the possibilities. Give yourself permission to create new habits and routines that serve and support you instead of drain and deplete you.
Make 3 Changes to the way you start your day. Write them down on an index card, on a post it, put them in your note taking app on your phone… capture them and then take action.
