Make 3 Changes™ Monday Mission #3 – Start Your Work Day

January’s theme is all about Beginnings, how you start things.
Mission 1: Make 3 Changes to the way you start your day
Mission 2: Make 3 Changes to the way you start your week
This week I invite you to look at how to start your work each day.

Make 3 Changes™ Monday Mission #3 – Starting your Work Day

When does your work day start?
a) When I open my eyes, grab my phone and start checking email?
b) When I get to my office at xx:xx each day.
c) I’m always available for work and don’t have an official start time each day.

Living and working by DESIGN rather than DEFAULT is at the core of my personal philosophy. When I began to step back from the madness of being always available, constantly connected and delineated the start of my work day, got deliberate about when and how I began my work – things started to change.

The Power of Creating a Routine for How You Start Your Work Day

Mindset: Explore the thoughts you have about the start of your work each day. Whether that’s the work of managing a family and household or running a business from your home or leading a team within an organization – it all deserves the same sort of attention, intention.

What are the thoughts, beliefs and attitudes you have about the start of a new work day? Are they serving you? Are they holding you back? Are they impacting those around you? Are they impacting your results?

Take 5: Take 5 minutes right now and jot down some of the first words and phrases that come up for you when you think about the start of your work each day. What do you see? If your mindset could use a change, how could you reframe your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes to better serve you? Instead of jumping in and dealing with other people’s agenda (their emails, their requests), why not be clear about your most important priorities and create some momentum first thing? Instead of feeling behind from the moment your day begins, why not be crystal clear about the first things you’ll do during that important on-ramp to your work day?

Mantras: Review the list and highlight any of the ones that resonate with you.
Read them aloud and feel the difference in your body, your heart, your spirit.

• I am excited to begin my work today.
• I am clear about the things I will do first to have the greatest impact on my results.
• I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my clients, my organization or my family today.
• I am curious about how creating a routine to start my work each day will benefit me and those I serve.
• I am grateful for the variety of activities on my schedule today.
• I am grateful for the resources and support I have to accomplish everything on my schedule today.
• I have everything I need to accomplish the work in front of me today with ease and joy.

Take 5 minutes and jot down some mantras that would help you to stay focused on showing up how you WANT to show up, showing up at your best

Make 3 Changes™ Monday Mission #3
Take 5 minutes right now and think about what changes you could make to the way you start your work each day that would have the greatest impact on your peace of mind, others’ experience of you and how you impact the world.

Ask yourself the magic question, “What would it look like if it worked?” and let the answers flow. You know what you need. Give yourself permission to imagine the possibilities. Give yourself permission to create new habits and routines that serve and support you instead of drain and deplete you.

Make 3 Changes to the way you start your work day.
Write them down on an index card, on a post it, put them in your note taking app on your phone… capture them and then take action.

You have the power to change for the better. Let me know what you came up with and how you did! Check the facebook page this week for additional resources and inspiration to help you create a work day routine that makes a difference in your life, the lives of those you love and the lives of those you lead!
